Technical Specs
Details & Uses
Our EPS foam is used in roofing, with flute fill, tapered and coverboard options. In addition, EPS foam can be substituted for polyiso in many projects.
Flute Fill
Our EPS Flute Fill is a lightweight, closed cell, rigid EPS insulation product designed to fill the voids in metal roofs. It provides a uniform and level substrate adding stability and compression strength to roofing assemblies as well as an improved R-Value.
Benefits include:
Custom cut with square or beveled edges to fit any metal deck or steel roof profile
Able to be molded in a range of densities and thicknesses to meet project specifications.
Long term, consistent R-Value
100% Recyclable and may contain up to 45% recycled material
Moisture Resistant
Lower cost than other rigid insulation systems such as Polyiso
- Meets or exceeds requirements of ASTM C578, Standard Specification for Rigid, Cellular Polystyrene Thermal Insulation
Tapered
Our EPS foam is used in tapered roofing to provide drainage to low slope roof systems. This eliminates ponding or its potential on new or existing roofing structures. In addition to quickly removing water, the use of EPS adds additional R-Value to a building, reducing heating and cooling costs.
Benefits include:
- Efficient water removal properties
- Reduces energy costs
- Custom drawn, designed, and manufactured to meet project specifications
- Variety of slopes, densities, and thicknesses available
- EPS only or laminated options available
- Manufactured to meet or exceed the requirements of ASTM C578, Standard Specification for Rigid, Cellular Polystyrene Thermal Insulation
Coverboards
Our EPS Roofing Coverboards are installed between the insulation and membrane layers on a roofing system. An integral part of the roofing assembly, an EPS coverboard enhances the long-term performance of the roofing system by improving impact resistance, increasing fire and wind damage protection and creating both a thermal and vapor barrier.
Benefits include:
- Increases impact resistance
- Increases fire and win damage protection
- Create a thermal and vapor barrier
- Available in a variety of thicknesses and densities
- Available in both sheet and fanfold form
- Manufactured to meet or exceed ASTM C578 requirements
- 1 mil or 3 mil poly laminate available on one or both sides
Substituting EPS for Polyiso
Creative Foam can help you substitute poly-iso with EPS. While there are clear differences between the two, Creative Foam’s EPS can match poly-iso R-values and compression strengths with the added benefit of savings in product cost and labor.
Benefits of EPS over poly-iso include:
EPS contains naturally occurring elements of carbon, hydrogen and water. No harmful blowing agents are used in the EPS manufacturing process.
Static R-value that stays consistent over time.
Closed cell foam product that expels moisture and absorbs less liquid than poly-iso’s open cell structure.
Pest-resistance and can be treated with Borate to repel insects.
No harmful “off gassing” and this, combined with low energy inputs, creates low Global Warming Potential (GWP).
100% recyclable.
Customizable in size, thickness, facers, density and compression strengths.

Foam questions?
We've got answers.
Learn more about the applications for our foam products.
What types of foam products do you manufacture?
Our specialties are expanded polystyrene (EPS), expanded polypropylene (EPP), and graphite polystyrene (GPS), These products have many applications, and can be used in roofing, insulation, landscaping, stabilization, exterior siding, and more.
Do you offer custom foam manufacturing?
We do have the capability to customize our products to your specific needs. In addition, we offer custom packaging, either to ensure your product arrives damage-free, or for your own shipping and packaging needs.
Which types of foam are best for each application?
Most of our applications can be made with multiple foam types, and we’ll guide you to choose the best one for your requirements. Here’s a list of what we manufacture:
- Custom packaging: EPS or EPP
- Insulated shipping containers: EPS or GPS
- Precast: EPS or GPS
- Garage doors and door cores: EPP, EPS, or GPS
- Sheathing: EPS or GPS
- EIFS: EPS or GPS
- Geofoam: EPS
- Roofing: EPS
- OEM: EPP, EPS, or GPS
Which type of foam is the best for my project?
If multiple foam types are able to be used in your project, we’ll discuss the benefits of each product and decide together what will be the best choice for your project.
Are your products sustainable or LEED-certified?
Many of our products can contribute to LEED points, depending on application and use.
