At Creative Foam, we offer a variety of roofing products including flute fill, tapered, coverboards, nail
base, and substituting EPS for Polyiso in roofing systems.
Flute Fill
Creative Foam EPS Flute Fill is a lightweight, closed cell, rigid EPS insulation product designed to fill the voids in metal roofs. It provides a uniform and level substrate adding stability and compression strength to roofing assemblies as well as an improved R-Value. It is custom cut with square or beveled edges to fit any metal deck or steel roof profile and can be molded in a range of densities and thicknesses to meet project specifications.
Creative Foam Flute Fill can be manufactured to meet or exceed the requirements of ASTM C578, Standard Specification for Rigid, Cellular Polystyrene Thermal Insulation.
Additional Benefits Include:
Long term, consistent R-Value
100% Recyclable and may contain up to 45% recycled material
Moisture Resistant
Lower cost than other rigid insulation systems such as Polyiso
Tapered
Creative Foam EPS Tapered Roofing provides positive drainage to low slope roofing systems eliminating ponding or its potential on new or existing roofing structures. In addition to quickly removing water, the use of EPS adds additional R-Value to a building, reducing heating and cooling costs.
Creative Foam EPS Tapered Roofing is customed drawn, designed and manufactured to meet project specifications. It comes in a variety of slopes, densities and thickness and can be EPS only or laminated with your choice of facers. Our taper systems can be manufactured to meet or exceed the requirements of ASTM C578, Standard Specification for Rigid, Cellular Polystyrene Thermal Insulation.
Coverboards
Creative Foam EPS Roofing Coverboards are installed between the insulation and membrane layers on a roofing system. An integral part of the roofing assembly, an EPS coverboard enhances the long-term performance of the roofing system by improving impact resistance, increasing fire and wind damage protection and creating both a thermal and vapor barrier. Coverboards are available in a variety of thicknesses and densities with a 1 mil or 3 mil poly laminate on one or both sides. They also come in both sheet and fanfold form and can be manufactured to meet or exceed ASTM C578 requirements.
Substituting EPS for Polyiso
Creative Foam can help you substitute poly-iso with EPS. While there are clear differences between the two, Creative Foam’s EPS can match polyiso R-values and compression strengths with the added benefit of savings in product cost and labor.
Some clear advantages of EPS over polyiso are listed below:
EPS contains naturally occurring elements of carbon, hydrogen and water. No harmful blowing agents are used in the EPS manufacturing process. Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) or hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) are both used as blowing agents in polyiso.
EPS has a static R-value that stays consistent over time. Not only does polyiso lose R-value in colder temperatures, its insulation properties reduce over the life of the product.
EPS is a closed cell foam product. It expels moisture and absorbs less liquid than polyiso’s open cell structure.
EPS is resistant to pests and can be treated with Borate to repel insects.
EPS has no harmful “off gassing” and this, combined with low energy inputs, creates low Global Warming Potential (GWP). Polyiso does suffer from toxic “off gassing”, considered by many to be harmful to both the environment and humans.
EPS is 100% recyclable. Although, polyiso might be reusable but lacks the infrastructure of collection bins or full-scale programs EPS has available.
EPS is customizable in size, thickness, facers, density and compression strengths. Polyiso is only available in flat or tapered sheets with limited thickness.
